New York State Septic System Replacement Fund (SSRP)
Up to $25,000 per property (75% of eligible costs)
The New York State Septic System Replacement Fund (SSRP), administered by the NYS Environmental Facilities Corporation, reimburses homeowners for up to 75% of the eligible cost of replacing a failing cesspool or septic system, capped at $25,000 per property. In Suffolk County it is designed to be stacked with the Suffolk County SIP grant for a combined award of up to $45,000.
Eligibility
- Primary or seasonal residence located in a designated priority geographic area
- Existing cesspool or septic system being replaced with an SCDHS-approved system
- Homeowner is the owner of record
- Property taxes current
- System not connected to public sewers

How the process works

Suffolk County is a designated priority area; most residential parcels qualify.

Design + SCDHS approval
The new IA/OWTS system is designed and approved through SCDHS before SSRP is filed.

Grantem files the SSRP application in parallel with the county-level SIP grant.

Is SSRP a loan or a grant?
It is a grant, not a loan. There is no repayment and it does not affect your credit.
How is the $25,000 cap calculated?
SSRP reimburses up to 75% of eligible costs, capped at $25,000 per property. Combined with the $20,000 SIP grant, most 3–4 bedroom Suffolk County replacements are fully funded.
Do I have to pick between SSRP and SIP?
No. Suffolk County homeowners routinely receive both — that is the design of the program.
